Balanced chemical equations

In a balanced chemical equation, the same number of atoms of each element appears on each side of the equation.

One general class for chemical reaction is the reaction of metals or nonmetals with oxygen to give oxides of the general formula Fe2O3. For example, iron reacts with oxygen to give IRON(III) OXIDE.

                                                         4 Fe+ 3O2 -> 2Fe203

The non metal sulfur and oxygen reacts to form sulphur dioxide
                                                                          S(s) + O2 -> SO2

The equation mentioned above is balanced.
Chemical equations are balanced using stoichiometric coefficients. The entire chemical formula of a substance is multiplied by the stiochiometric coefficients.
